American military official Dan Driscoll allegedly conferred with a Russian delegation on Monday night, with dialog extending into the following day.

“Discussions are progressing positively and we maintain hope. Secretary Driscoll is closely synchronised with the White House ... as these talks progress,” a spokesman remarked.

Ukraine’s military intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, was scheduled to join in the meetings, though the exact format was uncertain whether direct talks with Russian delegates would occur or if distinct one-on-one sessions would be conducted.

Membership of the Moscow group was not immediately clear. “No comment is available. Media accounts are being tracked,” a Russian representative told state media.

These meetings follow prior negotiations in Switzerland where American and Kyiv officials modified a draft US plan for resolving the war.

Russia has not yet approved the most recent version of the plan and is unlikely to agree to many of the Kyiv changes.

Moscow’s top diplomat, Sergei Lavrov, stated that any amended agreement must adhere to the “spirit and letter” of what was agreed during previous summit meetings between the two countries.
