In excess of 50 unaccompanied child asylum seekers who disappeared not long after reaching the UK and while in the care of the authorities are still missing, based on information obtained.

Numerous of the missing children came in vessels or stowed away in the cargo areas of lorries and are thought to have been taken by traffickers. A specific county is often the area where they initially reach.

Government Figures Reveals Alarming Totals

Disclosed information has recorded 345 children going missing from their area, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

Between 2021 and 2023, when designated facilities for children operated along with hotels in different regions, 132 children went missing from these facilities. Of these, 108 were subsequently located but 24 are yet to be found.

Between 2020 and August 2025, 213 children vanished from welcome hubs for these minors, with 182 located and 32 yet to be accounted for.

Nationality Breakdown of Unaccounted Youths

In each instance, Albanian children were the biggest contingent to go missing, representing half the total from the facilities, 68, and in excess of one-fourth from the care facilities, 65.

The next most common ethnic groups to have vanished from the two settings are Afghan nationals subsequently people from Iran.
