Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
